TIPS: 3 Things to Avoid when Retouching A Portrait

Retouching a portrait is popular with a professional or amateur photographer. It can be easy to this person but difficult for others, especially the beginners. They often wonder if they should retouch in a fast way or do it carefully four hours with their pictures. Sometimes, after finishing all work, we have a portrait looks unreal. I will share with you 3 common mistake for a beginner. You should avoid those habits to have a perfect picture after retouching.

 YOUR FACE SKIN LOOK LIKE PLASTIC
The most basic factor in retouching a portrait is smoothing the skin, you can adjust the Clarity slider or use the Brush, Clone Stamp, Healing Brush tools and other filter commands to smooth skin, remove the blemishes on the face. However, most of the beginners do not know how it is enough, they do this job in an illogical way making the skin look like plastic. This is not good. Our natural skin requires to have the textures, also known as skin textures, and when you use the brush too strongly, this texture layer will disappear, our skin now looks like plastic and unreal. Therefore, at this stage we smooth skin but absolutely must not lose the skin textures, trying to keep the skin naturally as possible.

LIGHTING THE EYES
Softly lighting the eyes and make them a little reflective like a mirror can make them more fascinating. However, if you abuse it and make eyes brighter than all of the surrounding details, your eyes will not be further glitter but look like cat eyes or a diamond. And those portraits like this, in my opinion, is not perfect. Remember that only the naturality can make your picture beautifully and attract the eyes of viewers.

ONLY RETOUCH THE FACE
One of the quickest ways to identify an image retouched or not does notice if only the face is edited. If there are other parts in the picture as the neck, shoulders, arms, legs, you should pay attention to retouch them too and try to adjust the smoothness of skin as well as skin tone similar to the face, creating the unity of the picture.
Moreover, the most important thing, perhaps now, you will realize that doing little really make more effectively in retouching an image. The fact that we do not need to retouch so strongly or even not retouch. For an example, if you have a portrait of an elderly with many wrinkles and age spots, you can not smooth the skin and remove the wrinkles turn 60-year-old looks like 20.
